First grade is an exciting year. We will learn to be more expressive and fluent readers and writers. We will learn many strategies to add and subtract and how to count, build and compare two- and three-digit numbers as well as telling time on an analog clock and working with simple fractions. We will learn more about God and the Bible and we will pray often. We will explore citizenship, friendships, mapping, history, and lots of hands-on science to help broaden our understanding of our world. I have just learned how to play the harmonica and will be teaching my class how to play their own harmonicas. I have a class set of Edison robots we will learn to program using coding on our Chromebooks.
